SE-09  Jacket analysis

This course focuses on analysis of jackets including equipment loads, hydrodynamic environmental conditions, and pile/soil foundation.

Concept modelling of the jacket and environment is done in GeniE, wave load analysis in Wajac, linear static/dynamic analysis in Sestra, nonlinear pile/soil analysis in Splice, and code checking of beams and tubular joints in GeniE.

The course also focuses on redesign of members. Fatigue analysis in Framework using a deterministic and a dynamic spectral with equivalent static load (ESL) approach is presented.

Recommended minimum program versions:

  • Framework 4.4-00
  • GeniE 8.11-02
  • Sesam Manager 6.7-00
  • Sestra 10.18-00
  • Splice 8.2-01
  • Wajac 7.12-00
  • Xtract 6.2-03

SE-21  Simulation of marine operations

The course introduces the Sesam tool Sima for time domain simulation of marine operations. Sima is a complete tool for simulation from modelling to results presentation.

Participants will learn how to use the 3D visualized Sima interface for various types of marine operations like side-by-side operation, float-over installation, lifting installation and DP control.

In this course, Sima is used as the general GUI and platform, supported by the main solver Simo.

The following topics are covered:

  • Rotating bodies for a general introduction
  • Moored semi-submersible using catenary method
  • Side-by-side moored floaters considering hydrodynamic coupling
  • Lowering a subsea structure through the splash zone
  • Float-over analysis of a topside
  • Results post-processing, workflow, and report generation

Recommended minimum program versions:

  • Sima 4.8-01
